Lawrence Solar Project Details
Located on the south side of Lawrence, the Baker Wetlands features over 10 miles of trails, several observational blinds, boardwalks and an educational Discovery Center. Good Energy Solutions installed 29 solar panels on the 11,000 square foot Discovery Center in 2016.
We built an awning on the south side of the building and mounted all 29 solar panels on it. This solar installation continues to generate clean, renewable power that helps offset the Baker Wetlands’ electricity bills every month.
Baker University owns a large portion of the land, with small tracts owned by Haskell Indian Nations University, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, and the University of Kansas. These wetlands were originally established to teach farming techniques to students.
As of 2017, 278 species of birds, 98 other vertebrate species, and 487 plant species have been identified at the Wetlands.
We are proud to have have installed this solar panel system at the Baker Wetlands and appreciate how it supports the area’s stargazers, bird watchers, students and exercise enthusiasts.
