Good Energy Solutions recently completed a commercial solar panel installation on a building in Emporia, Kansas, helping the property owner take advantage of the USDA REAP solar grant. This project not only supports clean energy goals but also significantly reduces future electricity expenses for the building, which currently houses a U.S. Social Security Administration office.

The Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), launched by the USDA, provides grant funding to help rural businesses and agricultural producers invest in renewable energy systems like solar. Businesses located in towns with fewer than 50,000 residents can receive up to $1,000,000 in grant money to cover the cost of solar panel installations. Combined with the 30% federal tax credit available through the Inflation Reduction Act, as well as depreciation and local incentives, commercial property owners can dramatically reduce the upfront cost of switching to solar.

In this Emporia solar project, our team installed 84 south-facing solar modules on the building’s flat roof.
