2023 has been a busy year for our solar installation teams here at Good Energy Solutions. As the year winds down, we thought it would be fun to take a look at a few of the more interesting solar installations we completed.

ExxonMobile in Kansas City, Kansas

The irony of a plant that bottles motor oil and lubricants installing solar on their roof was not lost on us. Our team designed and installed this system that utilizes 270 solar panels. After this system goes online, we expect it to offset enough carbon emissions to equal to burning 137,031 pounds of coal.

Outdoor Classroom at Haskell Indian Nations University
Haskell Outdoor Classroom

This Lawrence university needed a structure that would allow students to attend classes in an outdoor setting on campus. We worked with them to build this pergola, including all of the lighting and electrical components, that provides off-grid solar power to students and faculty. The solar system consists of 5 solar modules, 1 Sol-Ark inverter and 4 Kilovault batteries. This equipment allows students and faculty to use their plugged-in electronic equipment (laptops, tablets, and phones, etc.) along with providing power to light the space.

Poolside Ground Mount in Topeka, Kansas

Topeka Solar Ground Mount

We don’t normally install a ground mount in the back yard of a house this size, but everything worked out remarkably well for the homeowners. With anticipation for adding a pool and an EV to their new home, we knew there probably wouldn’t be enough room on the roof of the house for the number of solar panels needed. We were able to design and install this ground mount, perfectly situated in the backyard. With ground mounts, we can better position the solar panels to take in as much sun as possible.

Ionos, Inc in Lenexa, Kansas

Lenexa Commercial Solar

The owners of this data center have made a commitment to offsetting the carbon footprint of their entire company by 100%. We worked with them to design and install 1,131 high-performance solar panels on the roof of their building in Lenexa, Kansas earlier this year.

The Willow in Lawrence, Kansas

Every year we give away a solar panel system to a deserving nonprofit in Douglas County. This year we installed 12 solar panels on the roof of The Willow. This amazing organization builds safer communities through shelter, services, and support to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. The money saved on their monthly electric bills by going solar will help the organization allocate more of their resources towards helping people.

Solar in 2024

With the 30% solar tax credit continuing into the next year, we expect to stay busy with residential and commercial solar projects. If you have thought about adding solar to your home or business, we would love to help. Our solar consultants can assess your property for its solar viability and show you how much money you can save every month.
